So this looks like you’re using a raspberry pi. The good thing about
omxplayer is that it uses hardware decoding to decode video files. This
allows the weak CPU to just handle I/O and ancillary functions.

There may be a way of getting Melt to use hardware decode, but I am unaware
of whether this is possible on the raspberry pi.

So, if you could list what hardware you are actually using (raspberry pi
was a guess) and give a few more details regarding your play out setup,
that would be a good start.

Also a dump (on some paste bin) of the output of ffprobe file.mp4 would be
good.
