Instructions to unsubscribe from this list at the end of the message - --------------------------------------------------------------------- Hi ppl
My opinion is and an option is that if they have or can buy an other harddisk. For example , last week , I installed mandrake 8.1 ( almost in full except firewalls prog, & the other language documentation ) about 2 hrs on my second harddisk ata33 6.5GB where are paritioned by itself and at the end I got this : /dev/hda1 - 3.36 gb - free 376mb - used 89.1 % /dev/hda6 - 2.3 gb - free 2.24 gb - used 5.2% and difference for swap Mind you , I had windows ME installed on my 40 gb ata100 harddisk on scsi port. so I setted the bios to boot on hd01 ( 6.5 gb) harddisk In conclusion , it depends on what software going to install , it depends on the harddisk space and cpu speed to load it !! Thankyou ffor your attention & See you Silvio Still I have got NO reply how to install programs with TGZ extension from cd or floppy, and so how other new comers ( non linux knowledge ) can install on there own programs !!!! - ----- Original Message ----- From: "Ramon Casha" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> To: <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> Sent: Thursday, 08 November, 2001 8:50 AM Subject: Re: [LINUX.ORG.MT] linux/install fest > Instructions to unsubscribe from this list at the end of the message > --------------------------------------------------------------------- > Sure, but we should set some "minimum requirements" for the install fest - a > minimum amount of RAM, CPU, a CDROM, etc. Otherwise we could end up trying to > install Linux on half a dozen 286's with 2MB ram and a 5¼" floppy. > > What are your ideas about partitioning?
