Mandrake Linux 9.0 Beta 1 released today with cutting edge XFree86 4.2,
and gcc-3.1 (too sharp ?). Debian woody has been declared stable this
week too!

Ramon, will you try out the mdk beta ? Could you tell us how it
looks/feels ?

I've been using deb for the last four months or so. I have three
installations at work and now have one at home (on my second pc). It's
great (not only size -- 7 cds) and has *lots* of software to choose
from. It is also very easy to use. Like usual, debian does not try to
autodetect hardware so it's a bit more difficult to get it running than
other distros but with it's advanced networking concepts and stable
package management, it's sure worth the effort.

I've been updating it *daily* from the net and it has never complained
and always installs/upgrades the correctly -- aptitude rules

I think I've finally found my distro of choice. I might just trash lfs
for this marvel
