Hey All,

First things first – about the LUG thing. I’m not a technical genius on
Linux or programming (in C anyway). But I have done a small board game
using Kylix – maybe when its stable you can check it out and send
suggestions (it’s gonna be open source, duh). This is not the utility
which will change the face of Linux forever, but it’s a start ;) Also,
I could try and distribute a few of those brochures – remember the ones
at the IT&T fair? Does anyone know where I can get a copy? I would do
the copies myself (I’ve got a photocopier) and distribute them to
students. I would be a sort of Marketer ;)

Anyway, back to my original problem. On Mark’s suggestion, I installed
the RPM version of pptp and this worked perfectly – all the files
installed where they should be. I then edited the chap-secrets and
pap-secrets files and inserted the necessary details. When I do
/sbin/ifconfig before trying to connect, I get eth0, eth1 and lo. After
typing the command to connect, typing /sbin/ifconfig now lists ppp0,
and the modem lights start blinking – which means it’s connected to the
internet, hurray! The problem is that when I open a web browser and
try to navigate, both by IP and domain, I still can’t connect. What
could be wrong?

Keith
