Instructions to unsubscribe from this list at the end of the message

Hello Guys, 

I think I'm finally close to getting the internet to work!  Here's what
happened

First, I connected using Window$ and using the ipconfig command I copied
my DNS servers.  I then pasted these in /etc/resolv.conf.  So, my
resolv.conf file currently contains the following:

Search localdomain
212.56.128.132
212.56.128.196

I tried to do:  /sbin/route add default ppp0   before connecting.  I got
the error:  SIOCADDRT: No such device

I then connected to the internet, and tried doing this again - this time
it worked.  I then tried browsing the net, and this wouldn't work.  BUT
when I tried pinging my DNS server it worked!  I got a reply.  I then
tried browsing the net using only IP addresses - and this worked too!
So the problem is that I can't browse the net by domain names.  When I
tried pinging a server by name, I got the error "unknown host".

While connected, the route command displays the following:

The first and last entries (192.168.1.100 and default) are not displayed
before connecting, and when I disconnect they disappear again.  Also,
when I reconnect, 192.168.1.100 is displayed again, but default isn't -
I have to stay adding it again.  Without adding default, browsing (even
by IP) does not work.

I think it's a small problem, which shouldn't be hard to solve (I hope)
