Instructions to unsubscribe from this list at the end of the message - --------------------------------------------------------------------- Dear all,
[Apologies for asking a hardware question on LUG mailing list]. I own an old Linux Thinkpad 760ED. I have recently started having problems with its CD-ROM drive (an internal device): it has decided to stop reading disks reliably (it just reads parts of some discs. Application of a CD cleaning device did not improve matters. To make matters worse, the CD-ROM started to fail in the middle of a Debian installation instead of Slackware. Therefore, I need a CD-ROM drive for my Thinkpad. Options include (favourite first): A replacement internal drive An external CD-ROM drive using the specific port provided A parallel port CD-ROM drive Now, I should be able to get a drive shipped from abroad if I wanted to, but I wondered if any fellow Linux users had a spare (and compatible) drive in their attic... Thanks. Will - -- P.S. You may wonder why I bother with such an old notebook. The answer is that it has a _fantastic_ keyboard. - --------------------------------------------------------------------- You received this message because you are subscribed to the linux mailing list.
