Basically, it's a website where any user who happens along can edit any page they want. Sounds crazy but it works.

After some experimentation by yours truly I set up a wiki on our website. The idea of this project is to set up a site which will help users decide which is the best package for them, grouped by category. Instead of having someone to write reviews however, viewers will be able to chip in by adding comments, new categories or new pages. Hopefully as the wiki is fleshed out, it will become a useful resource to users who are trying to decide between 15 different word processors, 12 browsers, 8 Java IDEs and so on. By allowing users to share their experiences with various packages, a user will be able to compare the products in each category and work out what's best for them.

The URL is: http://linux.org.mt/wiki/

Take a look at the page above. I've already started filling in some pages. Feel free to add more. If you want to test your editing skills before doing any real work, use the Sandbox page (see the instructions on the site).

Let me know what you think.

Â

Ramon Casha
Malta Linux User Group (http://linux.org.mt)
