HI all !!

I am trying to set up an ADSL connection through Red Hat Linux 9.0. I
have an Alcatel Speed Touch Home ADSL modem and I’m following
instructions from web pages I got from browsing the mailing list
archive. I followed the instructions on the site
<http://linuxadsl.cjb.net/> http://linuxadsl.cjb.net/, but I’m having
the following problems:
1. When I execute the command
# rpm –Uvh –nodeps ppp-mppe-2.4.0-4.i386.rpm
I get the following (besides a lot of other normal stuff in the
beginning)
make: *** [ppp_mppe.o] Error 1
***************************************************
* An error occurred build the MPPE kernel module. *
***************************************************
2. I continue following the installing instructions (since it
mentions that the system should tell you that there are some probs with
the Kernel Modules, although there isn’t mentioned it should give you an
error, but anyway) and when I execute the command :
#./kmodbuild.sh /usr/src/linux-2.4.18-3
It outputs again an error saying that it didn’t find the
file mppe.o

3. I continue till the last of the installation problems, and when I
execute
#pptp-command start (as root)

It outputs the error : MPPE required, but MS-CHAP [v2] auth
not performed …(or something like that)

I also found another site
http://pptpclient.sourceforge.net/howto-redhat-90.phtml about ADSL and
Red Hat Linux 9, but I’m getting the same problem basically, that of the
MS-CHAP[v2].

I really can’t get through this. I checked for compatibility version of
MPPE and PPP but those should be ok.

Anyone has an idea? It would be really, really appreciated !!

Regards
Bjorn Scorey
