I have been working quite closely with the BitDefender guys and
developers for a couple of years and I must say that it is one AV
company which is really making improvements. They are very pro-active
on new threats and new products.

In a couple of years BitDefender will be level with Kaspersky etc.. they
should just work a bit more on marketing tough !

Apart from what Mario suggested you could also try Bitdefender's linux
edition, which can be run through console and which can be downloaded
free of charge. http://www.bitdefender.com/bd/site/products.php?p_id=16
