1) Amsn's interface is much nicer then gaim IMHO

DV >> Personally I do not like Amsn's .. Guess the TCL/TK feel I do not
really like (which BTW TCL/TK was yet another dependency to install
separately:)

Probably it will automount (at least on Mandrake it does).. but, of
course, you'll have to keep logging in as root to use it...

DV >> Security advocates will soon be saying that it is a security
feature and so-on. VERY TRUE! However ..... A compromise has to exists,
home users are HOME USERS! If security will be a stumbling block for
them .. Than it is NOT a good compromise! Mind you .. I am NOT against
security, I work in the security (anti-virus, hacking bla bla bla)
industry myself BUT from my experiences .. It Is ALL about compromise.

KDE has standards, GNOME has standards. That's one of the problems -
there should be just one standard (ala Windows). Geeks suck at UI.

As for the comments below, I don't think Linux should mirror Windows. I
wouldn't want to use a Linux distro that's made to look and feel like
windows, I'd want a Linux distro that has an easy to use look and feel.

DV >> Re look and feel! Yes .. Maybe you want to make it look different,
fair enough, but that can still be done ... By tweaking the look and
feel yourself. However .. Seasoned Windows users .. When migrating,
they do not want to learn new stuff .. They want to continue working ..
I suggest .. A default KDE installation should be EXACT look and feel of
windows (especially dir structure view - abstracted) and then if a power
user like yourself want to make it more Linux like .. Well you can tweak
it yourself.!!
