Hmm... was reading your SixUserModel article. Nice read indeed.
Thanks
Yet I would like to make a case in point. You mention that all linux
developers should adere to the same UI guidlines. I am sorry to burst
your bubble but Windows programs do __NOT__ have a consistent UI.
Think of Windows Explorer, MSN, ICQ, Incredimail/Outlook, Adaware,
Norton Antivirus & Winamp.
Yes, but they do have a consistent metaphor; clicking on a menu in all
the programs you mentioned will bring up the same type of menu, using
the Windows colour scheme. Also, the programs you mentioned are all very
easy to use and have beautiful interfaces. Surely this is not beyond
Linux. Also... does anyone of these apps require a terminal? Does anyone
of these apps have complicated dependency problems?...

I've written a short article on the six user model. I've no time to
spell check it currently, but it's there

I've started drawing up some plans for the how to. I'll post them
to the Wiki as soon as I have something different. In the mean time,
could you please read my "Linux, what you need to know" article on
the Wiki? I think it's a relatively good start

Hmm..
How about the MLUG compiling a nice how to for beginners? We could
then send it to pc stores (I know we're all thinking of the same
PC store, but I won't mention it here for the sake of advertizing)
and they could give a copy to every client who purchases a Linux Box.
Maybe even distribute free fliers to customers (have a mini stand
with
fliers and a "take one" stand.)
The how to itself would then direct people towards the MLUG for
support etc...
Ok Guys.... lets get cracking. What areas do you think we need to
address for a computer supplier? Lets start using the WiKi.
