Hi,

I am using Fedora Core 4 and I have recently tried out the KDE keyboard tool to switch the keyboard layout to Maltese. The 8 maltese special characters are being entered correctly in some programs such as Thunderbird and Firefox but some of them are not displayed correctly in most, if not all, KDE applications. If I create an html document with KWrite, the ġĠħĦċĊ characters are viewed as blank characters (like a whitespace) while żŻ are displayed correctly. If I save the html document and display it in firefox, all the characters are displayed correctly. So it must be a matter of display in some applications. They are being interpreted and saved correctly. I tried many charsets such as UTF-8, central european (ISO-8859-2) and southern european (ISO-8859-3) but I had the same result. I also tried downloading the keyboard layout on linux.org.mt, also obtaining the same result. If anyone can indicate what the problem might be I would appreciate it since it is very frustrating to type maltese chars and seeing them as whitespaces in one application and normally in another.

Thanks in advance,

Reuben
