The current threads might be becoming quite entwined and confusing for
those who did not attend the meeting so I will try to recap what we
decided with regards to CDs.

1. We have concluded that it is a GOOD IDEA if MLUG had a stock of
Ubuntu CDs to give away. We are working on meeting up with people to
promote OSS. Both policy style meetings with politicians etc. as well
as having a stand at fairs etc. We need CDs to give away in both cases
(as well as leaflets/posters/demo machines etc). BUT CDs (and the rest
of the stuff) cost money. So we decided to try and make the CDs
locally and print nice labels and a leaflet to go along. If this fails
we will have to buy them from Ubuntu. In any Case we need funds for
this. So: 1. I (Philip) am asking the MLUG members for donations. 2.
we will ask for a €0.5 to €1 donation per CD from those who take them
home.
These are to be the standard Ubuntu ISO, but with a custom Label
featuring tuxinu.

2. We also thought that it would be a good idea to give away copies of
The OpenDisc (http://theopendisc.com/). BUT after discussion we
concluded it would be EVEN BETTER if we developed our own version of
the OpenDisc targeted at IT Students at the Univeristy of Malta, who
apparently, are quite clueless about OSS (as IT students go). SO MLUG
is undertaking a Development project to build an OpenDisc like CD of
OSS software that runs on Windows which can show IT students the
Beauty of OSS software. This will include Development tools etc...
WE also need the comunity to help here, but not in a financial manner
(for now), rather we need OSS Developers on windows to help create
this ISO.
This is a different CD from the Distro CD above, but has the same
aims: convert people to OSS.

The two CDs have different target audiences 1. the newbies 2. IT students.
