Hmmm,

Are you sure it's not a LibreOffice thing? have you tried another non
English language?
I had trouble with docs when changing language before.
Sometimes the only option was to start a new doc, set the language of that
doc to the desired one,
then copy-paste.

It seems that new spell checkers only work with docs created After it has
been installed. Or somthing like that.
