Hi Jon, Yes we did get your emails.
It's a bit of a set back, but not an insurmountable one. James was telling us (Correct me if I'm wrong please James) that an ASN costs €1300 yearly. Although MLUG doesn't have this money, I think it's overkill to become an NGO and apply for EU funding for €1300. It would cost us more just to pay some pencil pusher to actually get the forms filled in. I'm not against becoming and NGO or other EU funding, but I think that is a separate issue. Also, we don't want to become an ISP - this is just a medium term project until the Maltese ISPs actually get proper IPv6. If BMIT won't let us use their ASN number and Sixxs require it, then we have a problem. They also require exclusive access to the machine - another problem. I still don't understand what BMIT means by "the ASN number has all of our IP". Our only alternative would be to use University of Malta's network, assuming that 1) they have an ASN, 2) they are willing to let us use it. The UoM part of the project was being handled by Raphael, who is at this moment in some exotic country with animals we have yet to name. So I guess doing everything in time for World IPv6 Day is a bit of a bust. However we should still push on and not be disheartened.
