Hi Daniel and our linux brothers & sisters Sadly i won't be able to make the meeting, though i would one day love to go for at least for 1 meeting, but sadly on Monday I go back to office, and taking a half day leave after a 3 week shutdown is not an option... How ever i would like to point out that as MLUG members we seemed to have failed at setting an august meeting, so any plans for September? Topics that i would like to bring up would be general OSS and not particularly Linux related... As you all may now by know that I am now the LibreOffice L10n Leader and thier Marcon for the Maltese islands and my good friend Jonathan Aquilina is also a member in the TDF - The Document Foundation, though he may be in other departments then me, we do have our meetings to discuss our current projects of building and maintaining the following: MT.Libreoffice.org - Malta's Localized Libreoffice site (currently an active project and still being worked on) The MT.Libreoffice DVD a localized DVD for distribution in the Maltese islands, till now i am getting some assistance from our North Carolina, US Counter-parts for a windows version till i can get assistance on a multi-os one (yes Linux, Mac and Winblows) While i would like to point OSSMALTA is shaping up but at a slow rate into the OSS site for the Maltese islands (namely Local projects like the TDF ones) and i am still looking for volunteers. AS MLUG members (While some members are die hard linux users), i would like to point out that yes i am 1 of 3 people working on OSSMALTA.com which is not to blow MLUG out of the water but to be assist it with the Linux community as we believe in promoting and working on spreading OPEN Source in Malta! Now i know that most of you may have opposing view or say that i am doing it wrong and I am open to constructive criticism. Still in my opinion at the end of the day may it be on Software or not its STILL Open source. As for how i am running the Group OSSMALTA you have to put in mind that we are limited in resources namely a cash flow & IT programmers as we are a NPO & NGO since to be assisted by the government i (and the same applies for MLUG) would need 7 members on the bored to become a NPO with government assistance only with the voluntary groups department next to the education department in floriana Best regards, Warren Camilleri Founder of Open Source Society Malta p.s i may of went slightly out of point but i needed to point out something that has been on my mind for a while namely to those that are skeptic of my intentions with OSSMALTA (not the MITA one as this is a public group not government run) _______________________________________________ MLUG-list mailing list [email protected] http://linux.org.mt/cgi-bin/mailman/listinfo/mlug-list
