I don't think it is too unfortunate, people understand (once told) why it is not there to begin with, and adding it could not be easier. That said, a "commercial" version of ubuntu or debian or fedora etc with fluendo codecs and some other addons could and maybe should be sold in stores. I would pay for it, and I know how to install these things :) App store?
