P Campbell has forwarded you this email with the following message: My apologies if you have seen this.
----------------------------------------------------------------- WE NEED YOUR VOICE...TAKE A MOMENT TO TELL OTTAWA. ----------------------------------------------------------------- This email is best viewed in your web browser. Click the link below to see it: http://campaignforcompetitivebroadband.createsend4.com/t/r/e/hiuuyh/l/ ----------------------------------------------------------------- With just 50 days left before the Cabinet must decide on our appeal of the CRTC decision, we need to ask for your help. ----------------------------------------------------------------- Because Minister Clement will be discussing the issue with his Cabinet colleagues, we'd like you to take three minutes to send a quick note to all the Ministers on the Cabinet Committee which will likely be dealing with this matter. If you are so inclined, you may want to review and cite the study from Harvard University (http://www.competitivebroadband.com/emailblast/BerkmanStudy_13Oct09.pdf), which is powerful evidence of the fact that Canada needs to do more to ensure competitive broadband, not less. We will be distributing this study to lots of MP's and Ministers in the next couple of days. In case it's helpful to you, we've listed below the email addresses of the relevant Ministers, and a short note that you are free to copy and paste into your email, if you wish. Or, for a pre-written and addressed email you can send in one click, visit the web version of this email: http://campaignforcompetitivebroadband.createsend4.com/t/r/e/hiuuyh/l/ Together our campaign has already generated tens of thousands of emails to Ottawa decision makers but we need to keep the issue front and centre, so please take a moment or two and add your voice. ----------------------------------------------------------------- SAMPLE LETTER: Dear Minister, Canadians across the country count on telecommunications and broadband services that are as good as any in the world, and priced reasonably. Unless it is reversed by you and your cabinet colleagues, the CRTC decision on essential services will allow Bell and Telus to shut down competition, causing prices to rise and service to suffer. A recent report by Harvard University (http://www.fcc.gov/stage/pdf/Berkman_Center_Broadband_Study_13Oct09.pdf ) shows that Canada is already behind far too many countries when it comes to having the right policy to spur competition. The Government of Canada now has an opportunity to make a positive decision in favour of competition, consumers and small business, and to reverse this worrying trend. When Cabinet meets soon to discuss what to do about this CRTC decision, please reverse it or ask the CRTC to reconsider. Like many of my fellow Canadians, I am counting on you. Please let me know what you think of this important matter.
