Showfoto is a KDE app, so you will have had to install all the digikam
and KDE addons as well, and RT is not a supported app, so it could be
troublesome.

You know the GIMP supports RAW importing using dcraw (install
gimp-dcraw)? You could replace both those apps with GIMP and a simple
image viewer (I like EOG or eye of gnome). These would not have
non-standard configs and would not require the QT stuff.

Xubuntu is my distro of choice for netbooks.
