Using Thunderbird and Outlook 2007, I have noted the following If a file is attached to an email, and the file name is of the form
this.is.a.file.doc I noted that the downloaded attachment name is converted to "this is a file.doc". That is, all the dots but the right most are converted to spaces. Is this a normal to strip the base-name of the dots? Why do I ask, well We are wrapping a file with another name , for example For the file "this.is.a.file.doc", it is wrapped to "this.is.a.file.doc.encr". Encr is now the suffix and in the directory entry we end up with is "this is a file doc.encr". The true suffix is not known since an embedded file may not have a suffix. Ideas please. Is this normal behaviour? ------------------ Regards Leslie Mr. Leslie Satenstein mailto:[email protected] mailto [email protected] www.itbms.biz
