Hi Peers -- Fellow MLUGers

About 3 weeks back I asked for some help, which was received and greatly
appreciated your feedback.

To remind you what it was about.

A company outside of Canada (Latin America) has a Solaris system with TELNET.
The company wants to implement security.

One recommended solution was to install SSH support and convert users to SSH.
The negative aspect is that the screen layout and possibly other functionality
integrated into extended TELNET support may not work (broken).  We are not
certain that the Solaris system software is up-to-date, leading to fears of
consequences.

A second solution proposed was front-ending the Solaris with a converter box,
and allow SSH input, with Telnet output.  Here again, the feedback I had was
quite positive, except that it introduces another point of failure, and also,
as in alternative 1, we may again lose TELNET functionality (example,
triggering the printing of a document).

Solaris, is at version 2.3, which, as far as I know, may not be up-to-date, .
The application behind TELNET is POWER-BUILDER.

Please let me know your thoughts again about the front end option, and what
product(s), do you recommend.  Is this a solution that you could do from a
distance (Montreal to friendly Latin American country)

One reason for preferring option 2, is that there are no changes to the Solaris
system, permitting easier fall-back.

Thanks in advance for your feedback and advice.

 Leslie
