My wife likes the Casino.  Being the person with the analytic personality, I
don't play the machines, but I bring a book and read while she plays with her
$20.00.  A couple of the newer machines had a glitch, and being curious. I
watched the recovery process.

A) Insert security card into a slot and gain access to the innards.
B) Press a switch and powerdown the machine,
c) wait 10 seconds
d) Power up.

While powering up, it became apparent that the operating system posts a lot of
messages.

One or more had the format

/tmp/bugreport/appname/appname.log

Gee, it looked like linux to me, the main screen was the console log and
bygosh, it felt like linux.

Oh yes,  Booting appears to be done remotely from a server.  It was slower than
molasses being poured in January.  One could watch the display with a progress
gui indicator saying 10%, 15%, etc. Booting appeared to take minutes.

It is obviously not Microsoft software.

By the way, there are a group of cash dispensers that read the barcode coupon,
and provide cash.  I have watched these have a blue screen, and definitely you
see the windows messages when these are rebooted.

You can play the penny machines for free, if you are interested.  Just start
with five cents, and play pennies. If your balance comes to one cent, check
out, and take your one cent coupon to the dispenser machine.  It will give you
back a nickel for your penny.
