I don't think that would be that big of a deal, the RAID software seems
to be very resilient. I've had my system shut off during a recovery
because of a power failure and when I turned the system back on it just
kept recovering. I've also moved RAID arrays into completely different
systems with different kernel versions without any problems.

Although I don't know the full repercussions of it, I have more than once rebooted while a resync is in progress. It has never caused a problem.

I'm with you, raid is awesome! I am using RAID6 on my NASes and I love it.

Can someone explain what using a bitmap does for raid? I have the option for it and I basically understand it is like a parity snapshot, but is it an actual bitmap (that may be a stupid question lol)? How exactly does it speed up the resync?
