This topic is not about secure boot, but of Microsoft asking for a new bios
that only recognizes a Windows certificate. Therefore, in theory, other OS's
will not be allowed to boot from this platform built for Windows 8 and beyond.
A TPM is essentially a non shareable smart card chip installed onto the
motherboard. The problem with using TPMs is that your virtual machine that
needs to access the tpm cannot, as the TPM is owned by the host. So, we are
back to virtual TPMs.
There is a demand for a more secure bios to prevent rootkits, and that bios
would be tailored to the host operating system (Supposedly Windows).
