GNU/Linux is an GPL OS.
Darwin is the BSD licensed kernel and basic userland used in iOS, which is
what runs in iphone.

saying they are completely opposite is a bit strange.  otoh, this list  is
about linux... and iphone does not usually walk, quack, or talk like
Linux...(unless you root it and put sshd on it, and use sshfs to transfers
music back and forth, which is what I did maybe five years ago with an ipod
touch, because that was what you had to do...)
