BirdLife Indonesia, a national Indonesian organisation working for
the conservation of birds and their habitats, is seeking to recruit
staff for 5 exciting new positions in the recently created Knowledge
Centre. The centre aims to provide accurate and appropriate
information to internal clients, to provide analysis to support
strategic decision making, and to facilitate lesson learning and
innovation within the organisation. The centre manages Indonesia's
most comprehensive collection of information on bird conservation
and is the basis for BirdLife Indonesia's response to queries from
members and the public.

1. Short-term Knowledge Management Consultant. The consultant will
work for 2 months with BirdLife Indonesia staff to design a
Knowledge Management system which will enable the rapid collection,
storage and up-dating of data, and enable searching of metadata and
electronic data directly and through remote access. Proven
experience on similar projects and immediate availability are
required.

2. Research and Communications Specialists (2 positions, one
focusing on biological conservation issues, one on natural resource
management issues). The KC Research and Communications specialists
are responsible for collating, analysing, re-working and finally
communicating information to the KC's clients. The Bird Conservation
Research and Communications Specialist will concentrate on data and
information concerned with threatened species and sites, birds, and
conservation policy issues, whilst the Natural Resource Management
Research and Communications Specialist will concentrate on data and
information concerned with social and sustainable management issues.
Both positions require proven ability to think clearly and
analytically, ability to synthesise and communicate complex issues
to a wide variety of audiences, a strong background in conservation
with a relevant qualification, and adequate written English.

3. Information Management Officer and Assistant (2 positions). The
Information Management Officer will ensure that electronic and other
systems are in place to generate, store and access the information
held by the KC, and that staff understand and make the best use of
the facilities.  Proven experience in developing and operating
computer based information systems including web-based access is
required. The Information Management Assistant will oversee the day-
to-day running of BirdLife Indonesia's library, including servicing
requests for information, and be responsible for maintaining
databases and electronic filing. Strong attention to detail, the
ability to handle multiple tasks under pressure, and an interest in
conservation issues are required.

Applications for all positions including a full C.V. and covering
letter indicating the position applied for should be sent to: Yatie
Saloh, Director RDIA, BirdLife Indonesia, Jl Dadali 32, Box

March 2005. Short listed candidates will be contacted for interview
by 18 March 2005.

BirdLife Indonesia promotes equality in all its activities and
particularly encourages suitably qualified women and members of
minority groups to apply for these positions.
