How much randomising does it do? I think just a little bit of noise added to the revision queue would be good - i.e. when Mnemosyne sorts them as you said, it could simulate noise of +/- a few percent of the card's interval.. or simply run through the sorted list and jitter it slightly. This would be better than two options of either "sorted strictly by shortest interval" or "completely random" - the sequence of cards wouldn't become very predictable, but one would still on average deal with the most important (shortest interval due) cards first.
