Yeah, for such large databases, you need the SQL backend from 2.x in order to 
be efficient.

I guess by crash, you mean that it seems to freeze. It just takes a very long 
time to process the deletes.

Just go to export, don't check 'reset learning data', and select all the 
categories except 'advanced english'. Then start a new database, and import 
the xml file you just exported.
