Ah, yes. I remember now :)

I experimented with the -d option when I was younger, but I gave up
after some problems. I think the problem was due to my database
directory structure. I have a single directory called "databases".
Below that I have directories for individual subjects. But some
subjects have more than one database. E.g.

...\data\mnemosyne\Databases
 . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .HebrewAlphabet
 . . . . . . . . . . . . .. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . ..mem
. . . . . . . . . . . . . .. . . . . . . . . . . .Farsi
. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . ..Colloquial
 , , , , , , , . . . . . . . . . . . . . .. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .
..mem
. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . ..Written
 , , , , , , , . . . . . . . . . . . . . .. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .
..mem
. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . ..OldLiterature
 , , , , , , , . . . . . . . . . . . . . .. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .
..mem

The whole purpose of such a hideous structure is that I can insert
other files, not related to Mnemosyne, that are specific to the
subject.

With a structure like that, a feature that I would like to see is that
each .mem file should have its own config and subdirectories, rather
than rely on a single source for these.

The procedure for File > New would be:

1) The user specifies the location for the .mem file.

2) Either (a) Mnemosyne provides a default config and subdirectories,
or (b) the user is prompted to specify an existing .mem file, in which
case the config and subdirectories for that file are copied to the new
location.

This would allow the user to have different configurations and plugins
for each database.
