Hi,

I'm not sure if I'm starting a new discussion or replying to one I
started in September 2009. Well, in summary, I was using a qt3 based
linux distribution and upgraded to a qt4 one, after which mnemosyne
didn't work. The distribution in question is slackware. So I thought
I'd share my experience to aid anyone who has a similar problem. This
is what I did.

1. Boot slackware 13.
2. Install qt3-3 from the the /extras directory which comes with
slackware 13.
3. Reboot.
4. Download sip-4.7.9.Slackbuild from the slackware 13 source mirrors.
5. Download the newer sip source from riverbank.
6. Modify the sipSlackbuild file to account for a) the newer version &
b) compression format (gz & not bz2).
7. Build and install sip.
8. Download pyqt3.Slackbuild for sw 12.2 from slackbuild.org &
download the newer pyqt3 source from riverbank.
9. Modify the pyqt3.Slackbuild file to account for the newer version.
10. Build and install pyqt3.

Its a bit long winded but well worth the effort. Otherwise I wouldn't
be using slack!
