I'm afraid that would mess up the long term scheduling. Also, the idea
of the algorithm is actually not to waste your time on things you
already know. Failure during the initial learning procedure is
something inherent, I'm afraid.

This is the kind of stuff if you ask it to 10 people, you get 11
different answers :-) This is why in 2.x everything is restructured so
that all parts of the GUI can be customised by plugins if people so
desire.

A very big difference is that 1 is a failing grade and 2 is a passing
grade (hence the line between them). So, cards you grade 2 you won't
see again until several days in the future, whereas those with grade 1
are presented for relearning once you go through all your scheduled
cards.
1 is like 0, but cards with grade 0 will be shown twice as often when
memorising them.
