You wanted the 'export' option which saves to an XML file. Presumably
Anki's instructions were meant for the entire database, which 'save
as' is meant for. If Anki can't read the XML, I would be surprised and
also not sure what to do. (Delete all the other categories in either
Mnemosyne or Anki?)
