I have heard that some well built and slightly expensive computers give less 
trouble arising from hardware quirks:  that makes them cheaper long term.  See 
if you can get a guarantee that you can change brands within a month if you 
first purchase does not work out.  Future Shop in North America seems to 
promote that marketing style.  A Mac with WINE should be very stable...;~)  if 
you can put up with being teased.
