If you do open the file selector dialog, in what directory do you end up? It's probably one where you don't have write permissions.

I will see if I can make this more robust, too.

For those eager to try out the new import/export card sharing format:

It also supports importing the same data multiple times, so that
authors can post updated versions of their cards, e.g. to correct
mistakes.
