The reason you don't see a change in the 'scheduled' counter is indeed because the grade is still 1, i.e. it's still in the learning stage.

Feel free to leave open Mnemosyne during hibernation, it will auto-update the schedule after waking.

Rollover occurs at 3am in the local timezone. So, there could be some transient phenomena while your changing timezones, but not of them will affect your schedule too much.
