One could write a plugin to achieve this, but I'm a bit hesitant to put
this in the main program, as that would lead to an explosion in the
possible and overlapping options in that dropdown menu...

This is no huge deal, certainly, but I thought it might be as easy as
a new dropdown selection (or 2...), with some date ranges, which are
already there but mapped to other existing dropdown selections.
