What you deleted was the 1.x config files, I was talking about the 2.x
config files.
Anyway, it seems Ubuntu has packaged a 2.0 prerelease version, unfortunately.
Please upgrade to 2.1 from www.mnemosyne-proj.org

Moving away config.py does not help either.
