Quoting [email protected]:
Specifically, I have a couple of questions.
(1) How many cards can I add per day without reaching an overload?
15 is a good estimate, that's when the warning is displayed.
(2) Exactly how long should I have retained a card in my memory to
consider it "memorized", that is, to be able to recall it in one or
two days?
Is there any research that suggests answers to either question?
As far as I'm concerned, this is not really 'hard' science, but much
more of a heuristic.
My experience with the second question is rather interesting. I used
to consider a roughly two-minute interval sufficient for considering
a card memorized, and then realized that I couldn't remember a large
percentage of these cards the next day. So I switched to reviewing
unmemorized cards at least twice a day (morning and night) before
considering them memorized, and my retention rate has shot into the
90 percent range.
I think you just answered your question (2) :-) I guess it also varies
a bit from person to person.
Cheers,
Peter
