It's a known issue, and on my todo list for 2.2.1.

PS. Here are some reasons I edit about 30% of cards
1.I start with Front-to-Back cards.
2.If a word can be memorized using a Definition only, I do not add a
Sentence; most times ? I add Sentence.
During Review, I may need to add a sentence ( if the Word lapsed once ).
3. I may switch, rarely, to the Close type { not selecting the Close, but
using the ?,,,,,? string or substituting the Word with a {synonym} string.
4. If a Word still lapses, I go to ?Mnemonic.com? to fetch a mnemonic ? if
I cant come up with one- and add it as a Hint.
5.Shorten / replace sentences
And a few more reasons.
