This is what I do with big jolts of new cards. I use a timer app (or a physical kitchen timer) and just run mnemosyne for X minutes, the "you've learned 15 new cards" dialog comes up, or it thinks I'm done for the day.
This is a marathon not a sprint. Getting through the backlog will come in due time.
