Thanks again for your help with this Tim. For anyone interested. I originally imported my cards back into Mnemosyne using Mnemogogo but, after closing Mnemosyne and reopening a short time later, Mnemosyne displayed the large red stop sign - indicating that the cards had not been imported. Closing and reopening Mnemosyne resulted in the red stop sign alternating on and off with each restarting of the program. Regardless if the red stop sign was visible, the "manage plugins" drop-down menu was grayed out and choosing the Mnemogogo drop-down menu option still showed the cards as being "mobile" not "local". Ultimately, I copied the auto-generated backups to a safe location (Thank you Peter - I was not aware Mnemosyne generated backups automatically...which may help to explain my sense of urgency), did a clean install of Mnemosyne and then opened the most recent backup. Now, I'm back to where I was this morning.
I'm using Mac OS X 10.8.2 and a Nexus 7. I'm going to see if I can reproduce this finding later in the week and I'll be sure to mention anything here if I'm successful. Thank you Peter and Tim!
