Good thing you came for advice here first, because these instructions are for a complete removal of the software including deleting of decks :-)

You simply need to run the program 'uninstall Mnemosyne' (or do the same through the Windows control panel). This will remove the program, but keep your data intact.

Hello, Peter.
   Below is your procedure given to another user in December 2012:
* reboot
1. uninstall 2.x and delete C:\Program files\Mnemosyne { ? folder, I
presume. } to make sure it is gone. (This will not delete you data)
   2. delete Mnemosyne 2.x's data directory.
         It's usually in the hidden directory C:\users\Name\Application
Data\Mnemosyne and
         contains a file like default.db
  Problem:
     I do not have the "Mnemosyne 2.2a" directory in
C:\users\Vit\Application Data\Mnemosyne .
   Is there a typo in the path above? Did you mean "...in
C:\users\Vit\Application Data ?
    In the  "Application Data",   I do see the folder Mnemosyne;
but it is not labeled like" Mnemosyne 2.2a".
In the Mnemosyne folder I do have 5 files with the suffix (.db) and
the default.db.
Question is:
_*If I delete my 5 decks*_, how will they be located by the New version
PS. If you wandering, I did two updates before; but did not know what I
was doing.
After reading a post from a user, I became weary.
That's why I need to understand every word you wrote before I hit "Update".

      Thanks in advance.
PPS. I am still smiling after you shown us how to freeze the Sort column :-)
          Looking forward for Tag Tree improvement in 2.2.1
