Thanks for both your replies. It sounds like it's easier than I was led to 
believe from the earlier posts on this thread. I'll check it out when I get my 
mac.

Peter, you're saying that some information is not backed up when it's set up in 
the above way. I also intend to back up the entire mac, which will of course 
capture everything, except in the event of fire & theft. But, rather than 
relying on a full system backup, on either PC or Mac, is there a protocol 
suggested by the developers as to how to set it all up so as to avoid any 
losses? I see from the Mnemosyne site that it is only suggested that the data 
folder is backed up, in addition to Mnemosynes own internal backups.
