Right now, I do my language cards on the desktop and my kids do their cards on the laptop. We are studying different things. In July, my family will be travelling so we will only have the laptop with us. This works for the kids but not for me. In the past, I would export my cards from the desktop to the laptop; do my cards on the laptop; delete the original cards on the desktop; and export the cards back to the desktop with the learning data when I came home. In the current versions of the Mnemosyne, exporting resets the learning data. A few months ago, I was given this advice:
It's best to use the built-in sync mechanism for that. Designate one machine as server, activate the server in the configuration panel. Then, on the client, start from an empty 'default.db' and use 'file - sync' while the server is running. Can the laptop act as both a server (for my kids cards) and client (for my cards) at the same time? Are there any tips (or things to watch out for) if I want to run a set of cards (as a client) off a laptop that already has sets of cards?
