The fast-format plugin is designed to help with this kind of thing:
        http://mnemosyne-proj.org/plugins/fast-format

Once installed, you can type:
        min`u`scule

to display the 'u' in red. Of course, you can do the same thing with plain
html. The plugin is designed to make it faster and easier.
