After 2 weeks of trying to install and sync Mnemosyne with the Android app, I have decided to post here. I could not understand the v.2.3.1 instructions for OS X install (for a non-tech person, it is unintelligible to read : "install the dependencies" or "change to unpacked source directory").
So, I installed the older version 2.2.1 from SourceForge and the newest app from Google Play. But, when I sync from Android, I get an error saying "Internal server error, 404 not found" Can anyone help me understand these conventions: 1. when on desktop, the Sync tab in Mnemosyne asks for server address. Is this the IPv4 address, the router address, or one of the two DNS server addresses? 2. how do I know what is the port number (assuming the defaulted 8512 may not be correct?) 3. for the Username and Password in that same Sync tab, is this just for Mnemosyne? Or is it asking for those items to be the same as for my Mac/server, generally? 4. Do versions 2.2.1 on desktop and 2.3.1 on Android sync together OK? 5. Lastly, assuming I get that all correct, is it simply a matter of opening the Android app and clicking Sync? Thanks very much to anyone who realizes how confounding this is to non-tech users.
