FYI I have a good reason not to use Google Play: I live in China and all 
Google services are blocked.  The economics and politics of that decision 
mean it's not likely to change in the foreseeable future.  There's a lot of 
language learners in China and people here use mobiles far more than 
computers, so I think it's worth a little effort to provide an alternative 
way to download the app.

Simplest way would be to commit the .apk's to bazaar just before uploading 
to Google Play.  That way they'll be available for direct download on 
launchpad.
