So, I would try to uninstall Mnemosyne completely (no need to delete the card 
database of course), reinstall and reboot.

Right you are, sir. Right you are. So... obviously, something went wrong here. 
2.3.3 worked fine on all three of the machines I've been using (two Windows 7 
computers and my brother's Windows Server 2003 computer), and the Android app 
was syncing fine, as well. Since my brother's computer is the one that has the 
port forwarding rights, though, this is a big problem for me.
