Hi,

If you install Mnemosyne in your Python sitepackages directory (see the
instructions for Mnemosyne developers), you can use Mnemosyne’s Python API to
directly manipulate your Mnemosyne database. Have a look at the example_scripts
folder in our Launchpad tree.

Cheers,

Peter

Subject: [mnemosyne-proj-users] Re: Importing Vocabulary Cards

Hi Peter,

Thank you very much for the answer.

I use Mnemosyne to learn Russian words. I insert in the Notes a lot of extra
information like root, structure, declension scheme, etc. Because of this the
ensemble of the cards forms a complex database.

- I want to systematically edit the database (e.g. in order to eliminate
inconsistencies).
- I want to analyze the database and ‘navigate’ in the lexical space of the
Russian language.

To this purpose I’m writing some programs to do the job. I’ve done some
experimental work in Mathematica, but now I’ve decided to use Python because
it’s more popular in the field of computational linguistics.

Fortunately all the items in the Notes have a standard format (key: values
values …). Therefore I can write a small subprogram to separates the fields
(‘columns’). I am very happy, that it is possible to re-import the edited data
separating the fields with three tab.

Cheer,

Vittorio

The documentation reads:

Importing cards in the Vocabulary card type
For each card, put 'foreign word', 'pronunciation', and 'meaning' on a single
line, separated by tabs.

How can I extort Vocabulary card in such a format?
Note: Exporting Vocabulary cards I get only one tab per line.
