And to explain the second option in more detail: go to Study -
Deactivate cards. There, for each of your card types, you can disable
a certain direction (window on the top left).

I find it convenient to have different card types e.g. for different
languages, that way you can change their settings individually. To
create a new card type based on an existing one, go to Cards - Manage
Card types, and then clone a card type.
